CONTEXT: 16: 13-31 – Mammon (entrusting yourself to something or someone)
POINT OF THE PARABLE – WHO OR WHAT IS YOUR GOD [god]
THREE PARTS TO THE PARABLE:
1. The conduct of the rich man1.
2. His fate.
3. And the sufficiency of existing warnings to keep us from his sin and his end.
I have got to tell you that; this parable that we have just read is probably the scariest story in the entire Bible. There is no such story like this and this story about hell is unique to the Book of Luke only. It is scary and sobering at the same time. Even though it is a Parable, one of the points that Jesus is trying to make is that there is indeed a hell where the unsaved reprobate sinner will most definitely end up. Hell is real and the Parable is about the self-absorbed, the self-righteous; those that reject truth even when the truth is undeniable! This Parable is directed straight to the Pharisees and Scribes who deemed themselves super-righteous and the rest of mankind wicked sinners!
Jesus had much to say about hell. In fact, the entire Bible has much to say in reference to hell. Allow me to give you some Scripture references about hell.
